Take It Easy

glenAs I shared on my “About Me” page on this site, music is very important in my life. It has the power to change my mood, take me to another time and place, motivate me, or remind me of what’s important or what’s not. In short, music touches my soul on so many different levels and in so many different ways.

I do not have an all-time favorite band or artist as I enjoy so many types of music. But if I were to have a top 5, the Eagles would certainly be on it. I grew up listening to the Eagles and songs like Hotel California, Life in The Fast Lane, and Peaceful Easy Feeling just to name a few. One of my all time favorites is the song, Take It Easy. Take It Easy was originally written by Jackson Brown but he did not know how to finish it. Glenn Frey had heard Jackson Brown working on the song and really liked it. Glenn Frey came up with the lyric “It’s girl my Lord, in flatbed ford slowing down to take a look at me.” Ultimately Glenn Frey asked Jackson Brown if he could finish the song and eventually, he said yes. Take It Easy ended up being the Eagle’s debut song off their first album self titled Eagles.

I have included a version of Take It Easy that has the Eagles starting off the song with an acapella verse from a song titled Silver Dagger. I like this version as you get to hear their harmonies right off the bat with no instruments.

I have also included a link to the album version of the song in case that is what you prefer. At the bottom, you will find additional links if you want to learn more about the history of the song Take It Easy.

Take It Easy – Album Version

For me, Take It Easy is a reminder to take a step back and to think things through. To remember that things generally are never as bad as they seem. We live in a world that seems so reactionary and chaotic. With the political strife in our country, the attacks that have happened all around the world including here in the USA, the social issues that we face with police and race relations, and so much more, it just seems that the world around us has just gone crazy. So in response, I want to invite you to Take It Easy! Please enjoy the song.
